ABOUT THE WORK
Inspired by the renowned American abstract artist Joan Mitchell, this piece was featured in my solo show, Fearlessly Female in May 2025. Celebrated for her time working in France, Joan’s distinctive use of colour is vividly reflected in this artwork, capturing her bold and expressive style.

This image highlights the challenges women faced to succeed in the male-dominated art world of the 1950s. The use of the mask and eye motifs symbolizes women's heightened perception and adaptability, emphasising their resilience and strength in overcoming barriers.

Pairs beautifully with the wonderful "Sylvia" artwork.
